Admittedly I'm really bad at planning things like these and my health + school life can always make things a little complicated, but my goal is to have the script written by the end of February and I'm going to start working on the visual image of the game at the beginning of February! This might, however, mean I won't have time to work on any other art, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make if it means Sinfonia's demo will be completed in time!
I'm probably not going to use the backgrounds I'm planning to use in the full version btw, mostly because I don't have the time and skill for them right now. So most likely I'll be like Ryukishi and just use tons of backgrounds and slap even more filters and textures on them, haha.
I did a test run with Tyranno Builder last December by the way, mostly to check out what kind of program it is. I used a bad fake sprite and ended up making it a joke but it was really fun and I think I'm going to use that engine for Sinfonia rather than renpy! It's way more beginner friendly, and while I do know how to use renpy, I feel like this is going to save me a lot time.
I wanted to add more than one sneak peek here, but scripts tend to be long so I'm just going to keep the element of surprise and show only a small part of what I have already done! Things might and proably will change a little and I need to fix my wording, but I hope this first draft of a scene is still acceptable.
It's from the first day's evening when Claude and Jonathan meet for the first time and Claude asks Jonathan what kind of things he likes. All the choices will be used eventually, but based on the order the player chooses to use.
→ I like books Claude: Books? Jonathan: Y-yeah. Claude: Don’t look like that, I was just surprised! Claude: You didn’t come off as a bookworm type to me, colour me surprised. Claude: You’re very interesting, Jonathan Jonathan: Ahah. It’s because my father was a writer so it just kind of came to me naturally, I guess. My whole family is rather artsy. Claude: That’s interesting! Claude: Looks like we both have artistic interests then → I like physical activities Claude: I figured Claude: I mean, you look very strong. I bet you could lift me up easily Jonathan: Probably Jonathan: Wait, no, I mean, why would I do that? Claude: Haha, I was just joking. But you do look pretty strong, would you mind lending me a hand next time I need to carry things Jonathan: Sure, I wouldn’t mind at all. It must be a tough job to be a prefect Claude: Sometimes…. → I don’t know what I want from future and I have a crisis Claude: Don’t fret it, we’re only 14. Most of us won’t have anything figured out even when entering high school. Some are lost even after that. Claude seems very careful with what he says, but I can’t help but think he is also rather bold. Kind of delightfully so, but I wonder what the future brings… → I like stargazing Claude: Oh, that sounds very nice Claude: Come to think of it, I don’t think I have ever really looked at the stars in peace Jonathan: You should if you ever have time! Jonathan: It’s surprisingly calming! Jonathan: I really love the peace and quiet when I lie down on the meadow and look up at the sky. Jonathan: It makes me feel so small Claude: How is that calming? Jonathan: All my worries and fears feel small too Claude: Are you sure you’re 14? You sound like an old man He laughs, but not in a mean way. I find myself smiling too. Claude: … I should really give it a try too, then. |
