Thomas Acker
Thomas is a young boy featured in world X. He is Karl's younger brother and part of the child group X whenever he is just able to spend time with them. Thomas is noted to be somewhat of a daydreamer, physically present but often completely lost on his own thoughts. Weak since birth, Thomas is often sick and has very low stamina and endurance, making him somewhat ill-suited for physical activities. He is somewhat frank and proud, but also fair, kind and has a lot hidden determination. He studies ambitiously and wishes to study in an university one day even though right now it seems like an impossible dream for someone as poor as him. Thomas is affiliated with Rosemarie and Ilja whom he considers older siblings of sort for him. He is also connected to Vivian.
AppearanceThomas is a young boy of fairly fragile built: he has light bones and a narrow body type. He is considerably small and his clothes often too big for him might make him look even smaller. He has a light skin and is the palest of their family. He has freckles on the left side of his face and neck and moles (the very simple pigment type) on his both arms, neck and chest. He has a somewhat round face, very light brown (vaguely blond) hair with thick, darker brown eyebrows. He has round, light blue eyes with thick and dark eyelashes and a small nose. His hair is cut relatively short and resembles Karl's hairdo a little.
He is usually seen wearing clothes slightly too big for him due the fact he comes from a poor family. He is most commonly seen wearing brown buttoned shirt with rolled sleeves and dark brown pants with suspenders. |

Personality
Unlike his outgoing and loud brother, Thomas is a rather calm and introverted individual. He speaks and moves in a calm, almost graceful manner and his way of communicating with others is tactful. Thomas is considered very mature for his age, and his composure sometimes makes people mistake him for someone of much higher social status.
Thomas is generally very silent and is not really the one to start a conversation on his own accord. In fact, Thomas seems to be a little reserved and he is often lost in his own daydreams, sometimes to the point he must be shaken a little to snap out of his thoughts. Resulting from this, people tend to find Thomas a little odd and don’t always know how to approach him. As he appears older than most of his peers, other kids also don’t really know how to communicate with Thomas. He isn’t interested in rough games and he isn’t interested in any other loud activities either. Despite this, however, Thomas really easily agrees to play with others, no matter what they are playing. With the loudest activities he often seems not to be really present though. His classmates sometimes describe Thomas “might be physically present, but his mind is somewhere far away, not in this place at all.”
Despite his oddities, Thomas is a genuinely kind boy who other children often feel confident to trust their secrets to. Thomas can be very reassuring and he keeps secrets no matter what. He has a very fixed set of morals he acts according to and he wants the people around him to be happy. However, Thomas also has his own quirks and habits that might rub people the wrong way: he is very proud and stubborn on his own right, even more so than his big brother. He doesn’t like it when people order him around or take advantage of his high sense of responsibility, and he is known not to hide his displeasure if people do him wrong. He also doesn’t trust people easily and often pretends to be more naive than he is in order to protect himself.

Past
Thomas shares a common past with Karl: he was born three years after Karl as the youngest child of a relatively poor family of six. Born to an already weak mother, Thomas had a frail health since birth. Although he had no illnesses whatsoever, he was weaker in built compared to his other siblings and his endurance and stamina were considerably weaker in comparison.
The family’s life changed when the father fell ill and only two months after that died. Karl’s mother with already poor health couldn’t handle her husband’s death and fell so badly ill she couldn’t take care of her children anymore. The oldest sister moved to a nearby city and started working as a teacher in order to support her mother. The second oldest was also forced to move to another city and started working in a bar as an entertainer. The third sister went to a factory where her small stature would help her to crawl into places adult workers couldn’t go to. Being only 5 himself, Thomas was sent together with Karl into a foster family in another city.
Coming from a poor family and not having a very high education yet, the foster family didn’t treat Karl and his little brother as their equals. Instead they put both of them into hard work, cleaning the house and running errands - all the while Karl also had to attend school. Thomas, given his somewhat weak stature, was often not able to do as much as he was tasked to do and often Karl would do even his job. Although he was young and understandably weak for that fact only, the guilt of letting his older brother do everything (knowing he also had to attend school on the top of all this) for him was a constant thought on his mind. So, when Karl started receiving physical punishment either by the parents for "slacking off" or from the oldest son just for the fun of it, Thomas, who was only 6 years old, would often try to negotiate with people. He did not always succeed, but very often Karl was saved from a terrible fate secretly by Thomas who could talk some sense into people with his child's innocence. Thomas himself was beaten rarely if ever, partially because he was already too weak to take it like Karl did, partially because Karl took his beatings to himself as well.
As a result of stress and hard work at home, Thomas' health declined considerably. He was often sick and down with a cold that could have potentially turned out lethal for him. However, almost miraculously he recovered, often thanks to Karl's hard work and care.
He started school at the age of 7 but very soon Karl's bruises were found out and they were finally sent into a new, loving home consisting of two parents who had lost their children not too long ago. They were very loving and finally Thomas didn't have to cover anything for Karl, and in turn Karl didn't have to protect his little brother as intensively anymore.
Thomas is really hard working at school and tries his best to be the top of his class. He wants to proceed with his education as far as he just can and his dream is to go to university one day. He knows it's nothing but a dream as his new family isn't rich enough for that. However, he wants to do his very best to get the best education and get a high-paying job so Karl doesn't have to work himself sick in the factory.

Other
- His stamina and endurance are relatively low and he runs out of breath easily. He also seems to catch a cold very often, something he is a little concerned about considering treating him is costly and any cold could be dangerous to him as his health is already very weak. However, it seems Thomas often recovers with nothing but sheer stubbornness to give in to the illness.
- He is more admired than he is liked; he doesn’t exactly have many friends and instead most of his classmates just consider him as someone above them.
- Thomas studies a lot on his free time and he is ahead of others at school
- It is unknown what exactly he thinks of whenever he spaces out. Most likely he is just thinking of whatever.
- He has a lot moles and his freckles are only on his left side of face. He doesn’t really like them but he isn’t too concerned about them either.
- Has little to no interest in fighting and probably couldn’t take much care of himself if he was in a fight. He does have his persuasive side though and he hopes and believes he can talk his way out of trouble instead of fighting. He admires Karl for knowing how to use knife and later also a gun.
