As a sidenote, I participated in camp nano this April again and may or may not have started working on two short novellas while I was at it. Not going to get into them much in this post, but basically one of them is a potential sound novel story and another is just a lousy attempt at horror I have written half of the story of. You will probably see the latter one finished this summer if I manage to kick my ass to it.
Anyway, without further ado, here are some new screens:
Tyrano has proved itself to be both my best friend and my enemy, as some of the things are super easy in it compared to renpy, and then some things so much more harder and so very unnecessary and complicated. That's why I have been forced to improvise on some of the game aspects and change my original plans, but I guess that's just part of the fun of game developing!
I have also started hitting a problem with backgrounds, as I have some really specific background details for Sinfonia I can't be lenient on, and that's why finding the right kind of photos for them can be surprisingly hard. In a way I find it a fun challenge to try to do things some other way, but at the same time it can be very frustrating. Also, I truly appreciate people who draw backgrounds for their visual novels: there are SO many to be done, and even photo editing feels like a chore. I can't even comprehend how much work it must be to draw them all - which is why I'm more than happy with stock photos for now. Thankfully I feel like the stock photos actually really fit the aesthetic and go well along with my drawings.
But even with all this, I think I have done a lot of progress anyway! And I'm as excited as ever to work on Sinfonia, even if the amount of work still does terrify me sometimes. And sometimes I feel like it's not worth all this trouble. But then again, it's about time for me to actually start working properly on a project and not just switch them around the moment I feel tiny bit overwhelmed by the workload.
Writing - 100%
Sprites - 4/7 done (almost 5/7, I just need to fix Rick's sprite and draw his hands)
Backgrounds - 40%
Overall game layout - 65%
Music - 55%
You also might have noticed I did a big Sinfonia post on April fools day as a compensation for not getting the demo out. A good chunk of my March went into that one, so please make sure to check them out from Sinfonia's info page! There is even a character personality test I'm ridiculously proud of for no good reason.
Also, here is the short story tag for Sinfonia if you want to take a head start and read small oneshots about the characters :3c
Again, thank you for all the support and patience, it's mind blowing to realize there are actually people out there who are looking forward to this weird gay mystery game.
