Ren
Ren is a character featured in Three Crowns where he is one of the central characters. He also makes an alternative universe appearance as a minor character in Harmonia (visual novel). He resembles the catkind but is not the same breed as them and shows more animalistic traits compared to them. He can also partially shapeshift. Ren is known to be extremely unstable and dangerous when not supervised and his assertive and charming personality usually win people over. He was saved from a jail by Elias and is also closely connected to Jack and Heinrich, as well as and Josephine, who later becomes his wife.
AppearanceRen is a skinny and relatively short young man with cat ears and tail. He has narrow shoulders and overall doesn't have particularly striking physical features aside from his ears and tail. His physique shows he is still young and has not fully gone through puberty yet.
He has blue eyes with pupils that turn into lines when he is excited, angry or his adrenaline is pumping for some other reason. Due to his age his eyes still look somewhat large, making him look even younger than he is unless he narrows them. He has a caramel brown fluffy hair that first started out as a small pony tail on the back of his head but has since turned into a longer, chest-length hair he keeps tied up with a green ribbon. It is most often featured sitting on either side of his shoulder. He doesn't have human ears and instead has a pair of cat ears that are the same colour as his hair. His tail is also the same colour. As an adult he looks rather androgynous but has grown a little, gotten more muscle on his upper body and his jawline has turned more masculine and sharper. |

Personality
Ren is an old character with lots of character development behind him so I try to somehow list everything in chronological order!
[Teenager]
By default Ren is a carefree young man who isn’t really bothered by anything - even if he should. Ren acknowledges there are certain courtesy rules he must follow (especially when he is around the prince and later king, Elias) but he often breaks them without feeling guilty. While he can be as polite as can be, Ren lacks conscience and even doing bad things rarely makes him feel bad. His empathy skills are close to zero and especially hard it is for him to relate to negative emotions such as getting (emotionally) hurt. Or maybe he just doesn’t care. Ren comes from a very cruel world in which such softness-es of nature are considered as weaknesses that can result in losing one’s head - literally.
Another leading trait in his personality is his selfishness. Elias and Josephine are the only people he is truly devoted to, but even with them he keeps his trait of thinking more about himself than others. Ren also has a very dominating nature in more ways than one and he likes to feel both powerful, in control and needed. He is serving under Elias and before Josephine came in, he was always either with Elias or in his own room. Sometimes he sneaked on adventures on his own but because of his blindfold and the fact he couldn’t leave the castle area, he couldn’t enjoy them much. Ren is fine with being alone, although long periods of times alone make him upset and slightly anxious as he starts recalling his old world. Even these days Ren misses it dearly, even if he has already lost lots of memories related to it. Spending so long in another world is damaging his memory, resulting in permanent memory loss.
The boy shows his affection with cat-like ways such as purring and pushing his head against others. Sometimes he may even curl asleep on others’ lap or next to them. Because of this behavior, sometimes even the cat people of Ren’s current world think he is being rather eccentric; he takes the cat thing so far he actually sometimes walks on four legs, eats raw rodents and does things more feral than actual residents of the world. He tries to control himself, though, since he is living in the palace. He is a somewhat of a sweet talker especially around women and can go to great lengths in order to charm and please them. He really enjoys the attention of women, although he doesn’t mind male company either. With new people he is courageous and strikes off conversations immediately, but often loses his diplomacy as result. Sometimes his topics can go over the top since he really enjoys talking about things that are not considered good in this world (such as killing). If he notices others are being uncomfortable around him he just changes the subject without getting embarrassed or feeling guilty for breaking social rules. He is often really energetic and eager to do things which may annoy some people. Around Josephine he hassles a lot and spoils her in every way possible, although he usually also tries to keep in mind he is supposed to teach her to survive on her own. Ren is loyal to Elias but if there is something he really desires, he doesn’t hesitate to turn a deaf ear to Elias’ orders.
[Young adult]
Much has changed after Ren returns back from his spying mission from Aganthar: in just few months he has learned to assume more responsibility and his selfishness has toned down. Although he still shows aggressive traits he clearly has them in better control, preferring to leave the scene and calm down than pursuing a fight.
Spending time with the people of Aganthar, Ren has gotten more emotionally responsive and clearly shows signs of slight distress whenever he notices people around him feeling not well. He is still awkward and doesn’t know how to help, often offering rather violent solutions to problems, but he clearly tries; an improvement compared to his past self.
After briefly reuniting with another member of his previous world, his need for dominance over “Alice” has calmed. It’s still there though and keeping him around Josephine still has its risks, but overall it seems like he is starting to forget what his original purpose, capturing Alice, was.
Despite all these positive changes, Ren is still as fickle as ever and constantly gets into trouble with his neverending curiosity.
[Adult]
Not much is left of Ren’s memories regarding his past: he no longer remembers anything related to “Alice” aside from the fact he claims the name sounds very familiar and holds a special meaning to him. Thanks to forgetting the violent affection shown in his world, Ren has been able to learn ways of affection and caring more suitable to the world where he now lives in. Admittedly he is still somewhat awkward, but he tries his best to comfort people with his cat-like behavior of pushing and purring. He is picky with those he devotes to and genuinely, truly cares about, but his love for those special people is strong and very much real. His aggression shows only in battles, sometimes resulting in other people having to stop Ren from absolutely massacring his opponents.
Just like as younger, Ren is still very vocal, attention-loving and eager to please. His need for power is still there too, but has considerably toned down, away from absolutely unhealthy levels. He is a smooth talker, good at observing people and telling them what they want to hear. However, his charm point from excited child has changed into that of a more mature man.
Even with all this, Ren is still unpredictable; maybe even more so than before. His attentiveness to other people’s needs and general good behavior can distract people from his wickedness. Ren can still be manipulative and violent and feels absolutely no remorse to those people who have hurt either him or someone he loves. In a way, Ren is now more dangerous than he has ever been thanks to his ability to really, truly win people’s trust and affection on his side.
The good thing is he usually doesn’t bother to do that. He is too busy being a husband and father-to-be.

Other:
- Ren has been around since 2011.
- Can dance quite well
- Addresses Elias usually as “master”. He also uses names such as “prince” or “lord” but never uses his real name.
- The reason Ren had an obsession over “Alice” is because he never fulfilled his job at getting one. He desperately looked for “Alice” who he wanted to capture. He couldn't kill Alice though since it wasn’t originally his job.
Cheshire
Ren has certain triggers that can result in him losing the control of himself, such as females with certain physical traits or names. He calls this "Cheshire mode" and it's a result of him being whisked away from his original world and being unable to complete his task of capturing Alice to the new player.
As Cheshire, Ren is extremely possessive, unpredictable and violent. He claims his possessions, whether they are humans or objects, by damaging them with his fangs and claws. As he has no control of himself, he also doesn't seem to have any morals at all and acts like a berserk, destroying and ripping apart anything on his way that he considers an eyesore. He can still be as cunning and intelligent as ever, but Ren himself describes he barely remembers what he does when he has been triggered. As younger, however, he doesn't seem to particularly regret his actions.
Most known triggers for him were mentioned to be girls with blond hair or certain haircuts (curls or the kind of hair style Josephine happens to have) regardless of gender. The name Alice can also trigger him if a person with that name is being addressed around Ren and he is aware of this name-face connection. As result, Ren used to be forced to wear a blindfold when walking outside of the castle or when there were visitors.
As he grows up and starts forgetting his world and his original purpose, the less likely he is to be affected by the triggers. By the time he is an adult he can already walk around without blindfold and can comfortably live without the fear of him snapping and losing his control of himself.

Past
I really need to rewrite this and make this shorter in the future lmao
Ren as we know him now used to belong to a twisted world that used to existed somewhere and nowhere at the same time. The residents of the world were based on Alice in Wonderland but nobody with a name role was actually born into that world. Instead, all of them were victims, the previous Alices, who had been brought into the world and then killed. As they died they were resurrected without their memories and they had to take over the role that had been given to them. Nobody knew who was the first resident or how the world was born but the Queen of Hearts was the oldest, closely followed by the hatter. None of the people aged in that world after they had been killed and the only way to free a role was to kill another resident - something that happened quite often, as killing was seen as the highest form of love.
Ren, before his death, used to be a servant in a mansion. He was from a rather poor farmer family and usually the likes of him could never see the insides of a mansion, but his charming behavior and good looks had attracted the young mistress of the mansion. Ren was helpful, humble and overall very kind; your typical boy next door, pretty much.
He was thrown into the world of Wonderland when he was around 15. Unlike most people who are kidnapped there, Ren learned the twisted truth of the world very soon and tried to escape. Helping him was one of the knights of hearts, who, for some reason, was unlike the violent residents of the world. He tried to help Ren escape from the Heart Castle but in the end Ren was caught. He and the Queen of Hearts agreed to have a sword fight and if Ren won, he would be free to go. However, the queen won him easily and killed Ren on the spot.
How and why Ren got into that world and what he was before his death are unknown to him. He is unable to access those memories and thus they play no important role anymore.
When he was reborn he got the role of the Cheshire Cat and started living wherever, although the forest was his special place. Mad Hatter was his sworn enemy but he got along with the March Hare. There was also the knight of hearts who had helped human!Ren. Although Ren knew nothing of this, he was instinctively drawn to the knight, who he was actually able to call his true friend. Other residents (other than Hatter) still liked him and especially the Queen of Hearts was attached to him even to the point she tried to kill him often. The residents of the world gambled (they usually played cards) for the honor of killing the next Alice. The one who killed Alice last time is the one who leads the new one into this world and the winner of gamble is the one who kills Alice in the end. White rabbit led Ren’s Alice to Wonderland and he kept her company and made her trust him. At the end of the day though, Ren killed her brutally with his giant claws.
When it was his turn to find the new Alice, he got into trouble. While he was out of his world it got distorted and disappeared. Ren couldn’t even find the Alice he was supposed to find and ended up wandering to a house in the middle of worlds. That house - or actually a mansion - belonged to Alice whose name triggered him. He ended up trying to catch her but seen this woman’s house is rather weird and full of different creatures, Ren was caught and sent to a jail.
Elias accidentally met him there and felt sorry for him, seen he couldn’t help himself and he was all alone in a strange world. He decided to take the risk and let Ren become his servant, but from now on he was supposed to wear the blindfold in order to avoid situations like the one in Alice’s house.
